The general impression
people have of the NRA for as far back as I can remember, is that the
organization truly represents gun owners and has their best interests at heart.
I also held that opinion until a phone call to their "grassroots" political
office in 1992 to ask why the NRA was backing Bob Dole after it was on record
that he could have stopped the Brady Bill in it's tracks but he let it pass, I
was told "...it was of little consequence." That's right,
those were the words from the NRA, their exact words! Definitely
not of little consequence to lawful gun owners! This was my first
"wake up"
call.
Also, because of such a response I began to consider the fact the NRA Directors repeatedly support candidates of both parties that consistently undermine and attack the rights of gun owners, openly hold no party position supporting those rights and seem to be loyal only to party power alone, openly ignoring the Constitution. I do not consider this as representation of gun owners. But, "it's of little consequence?" It's also the action of a Trojan horse!
Want examples? Try the following:
Thanks in part to the
almost non-existential objections from the NRA, passage of that piece of
legislative excrement foisted upon us by the treasonous rabble voting "Yes," the
so-called "assault weapons"ban.
Just what the hell qualifies as an "assault weapon?" Any weapon that doesn't
"look" nice! Period! Especially if that weapon happens to
have a folding stock, pistol grip, flash suppressor, or heaven forbid, any
combination of those "terrorist" attributes, along with maybe being colored
black or camouflaged to boot! We're not talking about handguns, but "all"
the other types commonly found in homes across this country. First the
infringement of the Second Amendment by government against law-abiding citizens
purchasing handguns, now this further uncontested infringement. Being
loyal and subservient followers of the NRA, none questioned how these insidious
invasions of our rights and freedoms had come about while the omnipotent NRA
were acting on their behalf. Many did wonder tho, could it get any worse?
That question was duly
answered with passage of one of the most illegal and blatant violations of the
Constitution ever to be spawned by those treasonous traitors to their
constitutents that allowed it's passage, the again uncontested by the NRA
passage of "The Lautenberg Amendment!"
In Article I,
Section 9, of the Constitution that treasonous rabble took a solemn oath to
uphold and then repeatedly ignore, it clearly states in item 3:"No bill of
attainder or ex post facto law shall be passed." So how did this rick of
feces referred to as legislation violate the Constitution? By being retroactive
in application. Also, it's retroactive application was not limited to past
felonies, it included misdemeanors also, even the past practice of responding to
such misdemanor charges in the same manner as to a traffic ticket, pay the fine
and forget it. For such a response you lose your right to possess a
firearm for the rest of you life!
That was more "feel good" legislation aimed at giving the
completely false impression of being a means for curbing domestic violence and
abuse. In reality it is only one more form of "gun control" on the
road to the vision dreamed of by some; i.e., that of totally disarming the
American public and make them more amenable to "political correctness!" Not
only was NRA objection to this non-existent, how about a statement proclaiming
this garbage as "...a piece of good legislation." That was the
stated opinion of Rep. Bob Barr, a member of the NRA board of directors(I
since call them the "Board of Deceivers!).
On June 18, 1999, this same member of that board of directors voted
FOR H.R. 2122, Mandatory Gun Show Background Check Act.
This represents gun owners? Damn sure NOT this gun
owner! Oh yeah, can't forget also, "It's for the children!"
As usual, all the while this was taking place the NRA was ballyhooing their members about how hard they were fighting for their "rights," e.g., getting passage of concealed carry laws in states without them; all the help they were providing in order to keep gun ranges open for the sport shooters and also protect hunting of all types; also came an increased plea for contributions. Like evangelists fleecing the sinners seeking salvation, the NRA set records. They accomplished getting passage of concealed carry laws in a large number of states and NRA members swallowed this treachery and stumbled over themselves to contribute even more money to this Trojan horse! The NRA was the "defender" of the calumniated lawful gun owner, especially if said owner was a hunter. Just where in the Second Amendment does it relate to "hunting?" Just keep those dollars coming! The predators and the naive!
Want still more?
A further example of the
deviousness of the NRA is their unswerving dedication to implementing the
computer instant check system to replace the Brady Bill waiting period.
"INSTANT CHECK" is for "your" convenience the NRA tells their
gullible members and they swallow it and send more money to boost the salaries
and perks for the directors of the NRA. This, along with concealed carry
permits, is nothing other than another method to
guns. Period!
Do you honestly believe the FBI or BATF will dispose of those records in the
time frame prescribed by law? If your reply is "Yes," I would then imagine
you have a great relationship with the Easter Bunny. Maybe have Santa's
home phone number too?
Let me touch a moment on what I've pointed out, in an attempt to explain to those that have yet to see upon what grounds I base my sacrilegious opinion of the NRA. If the NRA were honestly attempting to represent and support their members, just for a start they would eliminate their favorite word from their vocabulary, "compromise!" In regard to the Second Amendment there can be absolutely no compromise! Compromise is what "nice" people do when attempting to settle differences, sometimes, and anti-gun people are not in the nice catagory! Give a little here, a little there, both sides meeting in the middle ground and establishing agendas both can live with. Not acceptable in regard to the Second Amendment! To concede just one small micro-centimeter of ground to the anti-gun people is a step further toward the complete loss of our rights related to everything the Second Amendment stands for!
This has continually been proven by the actions of those people behind so-called "gun control." They have not been satisfied once; always coming back from a different direction with a new demand, and those demands almost consistently are met with little or no effective resistance from the NRA. At times, the NRA has even been party to drafting parts of the those laws that have cost gun owners rights. To give support to someone who clearly has the backbone and integrity of a jellyfish; i.e., Bob Dole and members of the board of directors such as Rep. Bob Barr and Sen. Larry Craig is tantamount to total defection to the anti-gun enemy! This is the Trojan horse in action!
Then from the capital of
the Socialist Ghetto of Kalifornicate comes a new cock of the walk, "Moses"
Heston He also was publicly in favor of the 1968 Gun Control Act and has never
publicly refuted that stand. The rank and file get thrilled when he raises
an ancient musket over his head and proclaims, "From my dead hands...," maybe
the only military issue weapon he ever had. Replace it with an AR-15 and maybe
I'd believe his antics a bit, but for now it's nothing more than smoke and
mirror BS! Today, 11/26/06, long after I created this page I ran across more hypocrisy
from Heston at a page from the Arkansas Militia
that has been the target for harassment of one of their officers by the BATF. Read what's there
and ask yourself whose side the savior is on.
but what his appearance
has done for gun owners is questionable. As an indication of where this
celebrated savior of gun owners rights and freedoms stood on
issues, his comment in "USA Today" a day or so after taking office was a very
clear explanation when he said, "...no one needs an AK-47 for
hunting!"; thus aligning himself and (as new president) the NRA right alongside
the anti-gun people. In almost all the opinions espoused by the NRA, one
is left with the impression that they consider the Second Amendment is about
hunting and/or sport shooting! NOT SO!!
What about gun free zones?
Instead of stepping to the fore and utilizing his celebrity status to combat the anti-gun viturperation following the government's orchestrated tragedy at Columbine High School at Littleton, CO., he at first remained silent as the NRA cowered in a corner apologizing for wanting to still hold a watered down version of a convention in Colorado and acting as if guns and/or their owners were the sole cause of Littleton. A day or so following the tragic events at Littleton, Colorado, he commented to the media that "...he didn't think teachers should have guns in school...," fitting right in with the "politically correct" thinking of those opposed to armed citizens. Instead of making the above statement as he did, he should have kept his mouth shut and stayed in the corner with the rest! To have cancelled the convention and snuck out of town in the middle of the night couldn't have had a more demeaning effect!
It was proven beyond doubt not too long before Littleton, in Pearl, Mississippi, when one "law breaking" teacher who had access to a gun stopped a similar incident at the start from escalating to such a degree of tragedy as at Littleton. If just ONE teacher or responsible adult at Littleton had been carrying a gun, there is every reason to believe things would not have grown so tragic. The government, anti-gun people, and the NRA by their obsequiousness, are the ones responsible for ALL the gun related incidents in schools, post offices and everywhere else one is prohibited from having access to a gun. They have made those areas "gun free" target areas and the shooter is assured that because of such stupidity they will not face opposition and are relatively safe from the same fate of their intended victims. Ever hear any argument about this from the NRA in an effort to rectify things?
How about the word from "someone who's been there?"
I had an interesting conversation a couple years ago by phone with Mr. Clarence Lovell, an ex-member of the NRA Board of Directors for 14 years. He left because he could no longer stomach the falsity of those heading the NRA.
In 1989, those terrible "cop-killer" bullets, Black Talon, were taken off the market in appeasment to the "politically correct" anti-gun folks. Know who wrote most of that legislation? According to Clarence Lovell, THE NRA! Instead of taking a stand to keep this ammunition on the market, they helped write the words banning it. Again, the "politically correct" but ignorant phraseology, "cop killer bullets" replaced common sense and the NRA was a part of that action. No other bullets are capable of killing a cop, or someone else? A plain old wooden pencil is capable of this feat, should we ban those also?
How's this for support?
When an NRA member moved to California from a southern state, after inquiring in advance and being assured a certain weapon in his possession would be legal also in California, he was informed after he'd moved that the Attorney General of California had changed his mind and the weapon was then illegal and he'd have to surrender it or face charges. Where the hell was the NRA? Completely abandoning this member with the comment from Tanya K. Metaksa, then Executive Director, NRA Institute for Legislative Action, "that he had no choice but to surrender his gun."(She was too busy on a book signing tour) This spineless attitude represents? NRA members? In about the same vein as Rosie O'Donnell and Charlie Schumer!
The constant plea from the
NRA is for more money, but where the hell is it going? With a membership
as large as the NRA, why hasn't the full power of that membership been brought
to bear, along with all the other methods available to the NRA, to stop further
infringements of gun owner's rights? The NRA operates with the same
principles of the U.N., they don't want to win! Instead of
paying the costs for all the missives and postage wasted in patting themselves
on the back, it could instead be used for more effective ways to defend gun
owners, such as political contributions to ONLY
pro-gun candidates at all levels of the political spectrum.
Instead of trying to claim
all the limelight and milking members for more contributions that are in reality
as wasted an effort by those members as writing letters to their congressman and
senators, if the NRA was truly representing their members
and attempting to defend them from further infringements on their rights they
would combine forces with KABA, JPFO, LSAS and others to present a united front
to combat the anti-gun lobby? They don't because of money, pure and
simple. Wayne LaPierre was heard to say the NRA was the best "fund
raising" organization around. Is that the NRA purpose, fund
raising?
The reason we were
provided a Second Amendment was to protect our nation and ourselves from losing
our nation and form of government as laid out in the Constitution and Bill of
Rights, to anyone, even from within. Why should a citizen be required to
ask permission from the very same type of government the Second Amendment was
intended to provide protection from, in order to buy or own a gun?
Any gun! Militiamen were supposed to supply their own
weapons, equal to those in use by the military of the time and that today would
include fully automatic weapons. Where has the NRA been in the fight to
restore our already lost rights? Inside the Trojan horse thinking up new
ways to further milk the members for larger contributions! To claim to
represent members wanting to continue that way of life, but in reality
compromising and sometimes flat out betrayal of the trust the members have
bestowed upon the board of directors of the NRA, is the action of a Trojan
horse!
Concealed carry permits
are nothing more than a form of gun registration, you don't require one to carry
a baseball bat for self-protection, then why are you required to have one to
carry a gun? Along that line of infringement, the NRA has done
absolutely nothing to see those concealed carry permits are given
the recognition guaranteed by Article IV, Section 2, of the Constitution: The
citizens of each state shall be entitled to all privileges and immunities of
citizens in the several states. Has no reference to reciprocity. Instant
check is an even more insidious form of gun registration and there is no other
definition for it. The NRA is at the forefront of both, concealed carry
permits and the instant check! That's another reason why I call the NRA a
Trojan horse!
Mother's Day 2000 was just one more example of the connection between the
general media, government and this trojan horse. While a small group of women
staged a counter-demonstration to the mis-named Million Mother's March, where
was the NRA? They damned sure weren't visible that day and again in 2001, but a
couple days later in 2000 the media is inundating us with the usual rhetoric of
Wayne LaPierre and Moses and all the trojan horse professes to achieve, but not
ONE word mentioned about the Second Amendment
Sisters, link
(8-23-10, this link no longer is online) the only ones to show up
and oppose the enemies of gun owners!
I do not dispute the fact the NRA provides excellent programs relating to guns and/or gun safety, education and training, along with all the information they provide to members with questions related to guns; that's a given. But the idea that "3 outa 4" is acceptable when it comes to defending the Second Amendment is like asking your wife or husband if they'll settle for your fidelity "6 nights outa 7!" Think they would? Then why in hell should gun owners be expected to accept such from the NRA?
NRA members are faced with the same horrendous problem of correcting something gone terribly wrong as the citizens of this nation are faced with in correcting a government that's been allowed to overstep the boundaries set up by the Constitution; but in both cases, it can be done. The NRA members, like the citizens, are the NRA in the same manner as the citizens are the government. Without the consent of members or citizens, the board of directors nor government have any powers to rule. Correcting the board of directors would be much easier than correcting the government, simply hold back those contributions to the Trojan horse. No money, no more treachery. Not so simple with government tho, there's an obnoxious IRS to contend with there, but there are ways to accomplish the means but I won't touch on that here.
I had an NRA member admonish me about letting my membership lapse by saying I was deserting the ship instead of working to fix it. Losing members, which means contibutions, is about the fastest way I can think of to get the attention of not only the Board of Directors, but the general membership also. Eventually those remaining members are going to question why are others leaving and I'm betting there'll be no answer from the Board of Directors, only pleas for increased contributions. But to remain a member and paying dues to an organization with this track record, to me, is as useless as writing a letter to your congresscritter. Now, you can continue to feed the Trojan horse as they betray you, that's your free choice. Or, you could join an organization that does not have "compromise" in their vocabulary and here's the one I recommend, JPFO and keep in mind that's just my choice and you're free to make your own. But, if you remain complacently feeding the Trojan horse, sometime in the future when your kids or grandkids ask you where their rights to own and bear arms went, don't tell them the truth, act innocent. Then look in the mirror! If you can stomach the sight, you should run for office, maybe the NRA Board of Directors!
